Political Literacy during Indonesia’s Presidential Election 2024: A Content Analysis of “Bocor Alus Politik”

Prior to the previous presidential election in Indonesia in 2024, there were some controversies and accusations of unethical practices and abuse of power committed by the current administration in imposing their agenda to appoint the reigning president’s son as a vice-president candidate. Under such circumstances, the voters are supposed to be more critical to make the best vote, making political literacy become more important. “Bocor Alus Politik” provides information in a talk show format on YouTube aiming at providing political news by sharing valid and unbiased news. Through a content analysis toward an episode “Skandal di Mahkamah Konstitusi dan Manuver Jokowi untuk Gibran”, the research is aimed at finding how the program can simplify political news to audience and the level of literacy of its audience. The results show that the story telling style of sharing news but complemented by facts makes the program easy to comprehend. While regarding the level of literacy, all respondents know where to find relevant information and select the program based on their needs and understand the content of the talk show, reflecting that all respondents (100%) achieved standard, 8 (27%) respondents achieved standard 5, and 4 respondents (13%) achieved standard 3.
